Our work at Sherwood whether it be in the mind, body or soul is done with an eye to the future, with a desire to invest in ourselves and others. This is done with an understanding that while we may not be here to reap the benefits of our labour of love, others will.
The restoration of our orchard and banana plot and the development of a permaculture style garden is underway. The older tress who bore an abundant supply over the years have been replaced with young trees in preparation for the next 40+ years.
Our goal is to develop a space where we can not only provide the community with fresh produce but to have a place where our Seekers (clients) can learn to grow food in a sustainable system, gaining valuable life skills through the active work program that we offer.
There are many more benefits of gardening than just putting food on a plate. Gardening is great for our physical, mental, social and emotional health. Cultivating a harvest in the mind, body and soul as we observe, interact and connect with the land leaving us with a sense of awe at all God has created.
